We were honest with each other and we were honest about the music. The music was positive. It was positive in love. They did write - we all wrote - about other things, but the basic Beatles message was Love.

PART THREE
The Beatles as Being "A Kind of Religion"
As an appropriate capping of this revealing, inspirational, Beatle book, we can entertain Lennon's saying, "I think the Beatles were a kind of religion", as a probability to be considered.
Accordingly, the Beatles surely were love visionaries, with John as their mystic-poetic visionary, George as their spiritual-religious visionary, Paul as their as their aesthetic-romantic visionary, and Ringo, as their delightful-earthbound visionary.
With this in mind, it is clear that surely the Beatles were "a kind of religion"; not a religion, however in the sense of an institutional religion, but as a personal faith that aesthetically inspires the feel, the sentiment, of Keats' famous lines: "Beauty is truth, truth beauty," - that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know." And popular music was the Beatles' truth as beauty.
